(HNM) – Implementing the “Zero-Cost Supermarket,” supporting people in difficult circumstances, contributing to the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund, and donating medical equipment to healthcare facilities… These are the activities of BRG Group in the past nearly two years, in order to accompany the government and people of Hanoi in preventing and controlling the COVID-19 epidemic, with the spirit of “giving is forever.”

BRG Group employees transport essential goods in the “Zero-Cost Supermarket” bus program to industrial parks and export processing zones to support workers facing difficulties due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Warm Gifts

In response to the call for “Unity in Fighting the Pandemic” by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi, Hanoi Trade JS Corporation (Hapro – a member of BRG Group) collaborated with the Dong Da District authorities to provide 1 ton of “Hapro Dong Thap” rice to residents facing difficulties in the district.

Subsequently, Hapro continued to work with Dong Da District to donate rice, bottled water, and eggs to households in the medical isolation areas of the two wards, Van Chuong and Van Mieu.

As a major retailer, in August 2021, Hapro partnered with the Hanoi Federation of Labor to organize the “Zero-VND Supermarket Bus” to the Hapro Food Industrial Park (Gia Lam District) to distribute 208 gift packages containing various essential items to families of workers facing hardships due to the pandemic.

Notably, in early August 2021, with the desire to join hands with the healthcare sector and the people of Hanoi, BRG Group, Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SeABank), and Northern Hanoi Smart City Development Joint Stock Company supported essential medical equipment for COVID-19 prevention and control in Hanoi with a total value of 50 billion VND. This included:

• 5 automatic Real-time PCR testing systems and automatic extraction and purification machines (96 samples)

• 50 advanced ventilators

• 50 five-parameter patient monitors

• 32,000 COVID-19 test kits

These contributions have significantly enhanced Hanoi’s capacity to respond to the pandemic, demonstrating BRG Group’s commitment to supporting the community during challenging times.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, the “BRG and SeABank New Life Social Security Fund” has donated nearly 200 billion VND to support pandemic prevention and social welfare efforts nationwide. This support has been provided through various channels, including donations via central and local government organizations, direct assistance to individuals and workers affected by the pandemic, distribution of antibacterial masks, and provision of essential goods to residents in multiple provinces and cities across the country.

In addition to these activities, BRG Group and its member units have actively participated in numerous charitable and social welfare initiatives, such as supporting the poor and disadvantaged, aiding communities in central regions and other areas affected by natural

disasters, contributing to social welfare and charity funds, and providing houses for the poor and families with meritorious services.

Chairwoman of BRG Group, Madame Nguyen Thi Nga, stated that the entire BRG ecosystem continues to join hands in the fight against the pandemic, with the belief that life will soon return to normal and improve.

One of the beneficiaries of the BRG Group and Hapro’s social welfare support, Doan Manh Tuan, a security guard at Hapro Food Industrial Park, expressed his gratitude: “The gifts provided by the company have helped strengthen my and my colleagues’ resolve to overcome the most challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Similarly, Nguyen Thi Ngoc, a resident of Van Chuong Ward, Dong Da District, shared: “I am truly touched and grateful to the philanthropists who have assisted workers like us facing difficulties. Since Hanoi implemented social distancing measures to combat COVID-19, freelance workers like us have had almost no income. The rice and essential food packages we received have alleviated our hardships.”

At the ceremony to receive medical equipment donated by BRG Group and a number of enterprises, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh expressed his gratitude to the enterprises and corporations for actively supporting the city’s Covid-19 prevention and control work. The support of local enterprises has contributed to Hanoi city’s proactiveness, achieving the goal of controlling the epidemic well, thereby developing the economy and society.

To continue accompanying the city in the fight against the epidemic, in the coming time, BRG Group will have more social activities and charity programs to share with those in difficult circumstances. In addition to promoting business activities, charity activities with the spirit of “giving is forever” are considered one of the major goals that BRG Group and its member units always aim for.
